The caravan is no longer a talking point.
Shocker.
alright, so what is the deal with the thousands coming to the states right at election time seeking asylum?
i'm not up on this, usually try not to be, but how can this not be manipulative?
it's either manipulative in the size of the group and pressure that creates, or in where it started or who started this, etc.
The caravan is no longer a talking point.
Shocker.

This was was more impressive.
i used to watch the tonight show starring johnny carson and jay leno.i loved the show.
it was funny, well written and timely.
back in the day ,i used to watch arsenio hall and sometimes letterman and conan.
I don’t know about high school. In high school there is no creativity. You are probably meme smart but you were not clever enough to make the meme. That task is for the millennials still trying to stay relevant.

SNL cold opens have always been funny. They have been writing themselves the past 2 seasons thank you Donald Trump and now Fox News. Can’t wait for the roast of Sean Hannity sure to come Saturday.
Weekend Update is hilarious as well. It’s so successful it gets its own slot in the off season.
I don’t consider SNL late night but whatever.
what is the reasoning/policy behind the practice that a jw can't attend an event such as funeral or wedding in another church?
i know of someone that didn't attend her older sisters funeral because it was held in a baptist church.
she waited outside until the service was over and then went to the family dinner afterwards.
In my early twenties I found myself visiting Rome and walking on the grounds of the Vatican. The other JWs I was with were freaking out and acting like petulant children, adamant that they must leave immediately lest Armageddon came and wiped us all out. I refused and told them all to go on to the next spot on the itinerary.
I spent the next 2 hours inside the Sistine Chapel marveling at the ceiling and wonder that is Michelangelo.
If armageddon came at that moment I did not care. It was worth it.
I caught hell for that for years after. I like to think my travel companions were really just upset at themselves for being stupid. :)
lm getting conflicting advice.ls it the 144000 or jesus.l was always under the impression it was jesus.lf its the 144000 then when they pray the jw;s should be praying through the remnant not in jesus christs name but in the 144000;s name..
I could offer my perspective but that would not be fair to Paul Grundy, since that information was quoted and referenced in my posts above from jwfacts.com.
Its a very good question you pose. Maybe another thread could be started for it.
i just don’t get it.
it would make their life so much easier!.
I know personally elders that have made anonymous calls on alleged abuse to law enforcement even before a call to Bethel is made by the committee.
A witch hunt begins amongst the BOE but like all well trained elders know, deny, deny, deny, usually works well.
These instances are probably still rare, but I don’t think it is too far fetched to assume they may become more frequent.
WT is always moving away from protecting individual elders legally and elders are becoming wary of putting their own necks on the chopping block in a court of law and the monetary demands it takes for litigation.

Because if Armageddon comes right then you’re going to die as fire and sulfur rain down upon all churches in Christendom.
It is one of those “conscience matters” where JWs are all over the map on it.
Some choose to go in because they don’t want to piss off family and the family realize JWs are assholes.
Some don’t want to stumble their brothers and sisters in the congregation if they were to find out.
The stance to not enter probably comes from statements like the following from the WT.
W70 3/15:
Thus there is no need for a Christian to feel obligated to go to a church funeral of another religious organization, where there may be the temptation to give in to pressure and follow the crowd when everyone else is performing some false religious act. Thus also the danger of performing an act of apostasy and displeasing Jehovah God can be avoided. But each one must decide for oneself on the basis of circumstances and one?s own conscience.
Yeah. When it’s in print expressed this way militant JWs make it hard and fast rule.
i just don’t get it.

Hundreds of boys went to prison because of Watchtower policy on conscientious objectors which could have been prevented.
Hundreds died because of their blood transfusion policies that are ever changing.
Hundreds have taken their own lives because of the fallout of being disfellowshipped.
Hundreds more children have had their minds imprisoned because of Watchtower’s policy for child sex abuse.
This organization doesn’t give a shit about abuses individuals suffer because of its policy.
i just don’t get it.

First, because they believe they have authority to investigate the legitimacy of allegations under an archaic 2000 year old “two witnesses” policy.
Second, convictions in criminal courts bolster civil litigations which costs WT money.
Not every location mandates reporting. Where it is not they won’t. Even where reporting is mandated they do not do it with full transparency. Elders may be instructed to contact law enforcement anonymously.
Immediate reporting would benefit local elders. It does not benefit the WT organization.
Their goal is not to spend money and they use outdated theological gymnastics to justify their silence. In addition to not paying out on lawsuits, those donations keep rolling in from the publishers, because the publishers also believe the WT policy on CSA is justified.
